Hi everybody!
Ally here.
Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I actually have a couple of pretty good reasons for that.
First, I have just completed copyedits for EMBASSY ROW! What does that mean? Well, it means going through the entire manuscript (about 300 pages) with a fine tooth comb to make sure of things like “should fine tooth be two words? Or one word? Or one hyphenated word? IS IT FINE-TOOTH? OR FINE-TOOTHED? Someone please help me!!!!!
That is what copyedits are. And they are now over!
Now, I will still do one more pass before Embassy Row is printed. This pass is what is known as a Galley Edit, and for it the book will be all typeset and official looking with its book-y font and chapter breaks and any sort of graphics there might be…. All that fun stuff.
But for now, at least, my work on Embassy Row is finished.
The second reason that I have been quiet is because about a month ago I had to have some surgery. It wasn’t a big deal, and I’m not going to talk about it in detail. Just know that I was a little off my game for a few weeks, but I’m chugging back and doing really great. Hopefully I’ll be back at 100% before too long.
Now . . . for the important news:
I’M GOING TO NEW ORLEANS THIS WEEK.
Yes, that’s right. If you live in, near, or around New Orleans, LA, then I would HIGHLY recommend you talk to your parents or guardians or librarians or teachers or SOMEONE and sweet-talk them into bringing you to the RT Booklovers’ Convention Teen Day THIS SATURDAY.
Yes. Saturday, May 17th.
All events are at the Marriott Hotel on Canal Street.
You have two options for taking part.
1. There is a Giant Book Signing with over 700 authors. (Here are the YA peeps)
Admission to the giant book signing is $5 (I think) but you get in free with a library card!
So you can come, walk up and down the aisles filled with authors. Browse. Talk. Get stuff signed. And then take off when you’re finished.
Or, you can opt for #2.
2. Take part in RT Teen Day!
Teen Day registration is just $30 for a teen and a chaperone. (I’m told you can register on-site, but you might want to call ahead just to make sure they aren’t full up.)
It gets you into the giant book fair PLUS you get to attend a number of sessions with some of your favorite authors as well as a Teen Day Party where some awesome goodie bags will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Read all about it in this flier.
I am not touring this year. And I’ve NEVER toured through Louisiana. So I’m incredibly excited to be taking part in this event, and I sincerely hope that a lot of you will be able to join us there!
Hugs,
Ally
My friend and I are both doing the Teen Day. I’m so excited. I’ve read all your YA books and I am bringing Only the Goood Spy Young (my favorite) and Perfect Scoundrels to get signed! Plus the night before I am graduating from 7th grade. 🙂
I gotta say, that sounds like the BEST day ever!:)
Hi! Well, I’m super excited about Embassy Row! I feel it’s going to be amazing and can’t wait to read it! Also, I hope everything is better from your surgery! I’m actually going to the RT convention this weekend. I’m from Alabama, so I try to go to these types of things when they come around here. This is my second time to see you at a book signing. I saw you in Houston at Blue Willow Bookshop. You probably wouldn’t remember me though. Well I’m looking forward to this weekend! I would love to stay for Teen Day, but my cousin is getting married so I have to leave 🙁
OH MY GOD I think I might cry. Why. WHY CAN’T I LIVE IN NEW ORLEANS. WHY CAN’T THIS TAKE PLACE IN NEW YORK. DEAR GOD WHY

I’m excited for your next book. Because your an amazing writer but I think the Gallagher Girls series could have a next step also. When I got the first book of the series I honestly didn’t expect to read it, then I looked over to my night stand and picked it up. Once I picked it up I could not put it down. It was a love story, mystery, and action. You never knew what to really expect, and that’s what kept me on my toes. Some ideas that came to mind would be write about the girls when their older, or just continue on the story in a different way. It may have came to a conclusion, but I don’t think it’s the end. I want to be a writer and a surgen but I want to be able to write a story like yours. I just don’t think it was time to put the Gallagher Girl series in the closet. There is so much more the book could bring out. So much more your writing could bring out. Its a beautiful, unexpected, thrilling, and amazing story that just needs more.
I’m soooo excited for the new book! When do we get to see the cover and what’s the actual book title?!?! I have to know!!!!!
Yay! I cant wait for Embassy Row! I’m also glad that you recovered from your surgery okay!
Arrrr, I live in England! I probably would never be able to go to any of the book signing 🙁
Please, please, please, please, please come to England or at least the United Kingdom at some point!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
im going to rt teenday next year
Can you come to Colorado? Me and all my book-lover friends would DIE if you came. It would be SO amazing. Try for the Pikes Peak area if you can. It’s really nice all year round, and not a crowded as Denver.
