Magnificent Monday

March 24, 2014 by Shellie 57 Comments

Hi Guys!

Since I am having my baby this week, and I won’t be able to go again for a few months, I decided to go see a movie this past weekend. What movie did I see? Divergent of course! It was so good.

Ally has said many times that if you want your favorite YA novels to become movies then you really need to go see the YA movies when they come out. Divergent isn’t the only YA movie this year. What movie(s) are you looking forward to seeing?

And in case you missed the Ally Carter movie news you can read all about it here: Gallagher Girls Movie News and Heist Society Movie News!

Have a great week!

xoxo,

Shellie

I’m excited to see Maleficent! I am such big fan of Once Upon A Time! And I love to see the until stories of the Disney Villians! I once saw somewhere that ‘A villain is just a victim whose story hasn’t been told.’

But I’m not sure what else…. There are so many!! I’m seriously one of the only people who haven’t seen divergent and the hunger games. (My mom says I can’t see them yet..) 😉

Thank you for your books! And I am so glad you get to do one more post before the big day!

Don’t worry my mom won’t let me see divergent. Even though I want to see it I am not a huge fan on distopian kind of books. I was only allowed to see hunger games and catching fire is because my mom read Hunger Games.

I already saw Divergent, which was amazing, even though it slightly strayed from the book’s plot line. I’m looking forward to Mockingjay part 1 in November, and I’ll probably end up seeing TFIOS too, even though I didn’t really like the book. I don’t know of any other big YA books that are becoming movies this year, but the Veronica Mars movie is supposed to come out this year!!!!!

So, 1) congrats! I’m sure your daughter is thrilled and you must be so excited! (possibly nervous?) But babies are the best thing. Also, 2) ALL THE MOVIES! I saw Divergent already and A+ and I’m going to see it again on Saturday. Then, this year, I have to go see The Fault in Our Stars, If I stay, The Maze Runner, and the Giver. This is the year of YA movies and that makes me so happy.
Have a wonderfully peaceful next few days and enjoy that itty bitty bundle!

I don’t know. The only problem with novels-into-films is that the film’s always not as good as the book or not what you imagined and it’s just a bit deflating. My friend found this t-shirt that says ‘the book was better’ and I really want her to get it.

That’s so true though. The books will never be as good as their movies, because there is nothing that the film industry can do to match the imagination of a reader.

I agree- also, they have to make it appeal and make sense to a broader audience, so it is never 100% true to the book.

I went to see Divergent of course, because it has been one of my top books ever since it first came out. I liked the first half of the Divergent movie, but affter that I started to hate it because there wasn’t enough suspense. Obviously I already knew what happened because I’ve read all the books, but I was annoyed at how the movie revealed everything right away. I also wished they introduced Uriah, Zeke, Lynn, and Marlene. anyways, I’m really looking forward to the Maze Runner movie. It looks like it should be pretty good, eve though it seems like the movie might stray from the true plot line a bit.

Went to watch Divergent this weekend, but I’m definitely looking forward to the Fault in Our Stars. The actors playing Tris and her brother, Caleb, in Divergent, are actually going to be play each other’s love interest in Fault in Our Stars. It’s going to be interesting how they’ll manage that!

I was very pleased that both Catching Fire and Divergent were very accurate to the books; hopefully movie makers will start to realize that sticking to the books exactly is actually a really good thing. (I’m looking at you, Percy Jackson movies!!!)

As for movies coming out, I’d have to say any of the new Marvel movies. I’m really into Iron Man but I’m super excited for Captain America 2 as well!

I want to see sooooo many movies this year! So many awesome ones have come out this year! I plan on seeing God’s Not Dead, Son of God, Maleficent, the Fault in Our Stars (after I read it of course), and the Muppets. Especially Maleficent! She’s totally my favorite villain. I saw the LEGO movie, and it is very different then what I expected it to be…good but different.

I want to see God is not dead, my sister and mom have both seen it and said it was really good. I think it will be interesting, because it will give me ideas for my upcoming debate in Bible class.

I think it’s really funny that no one said anything about If I Stay. Seriously such a good book, and I’m so happy to see that Gayle Forman is finally getting due credit for her writing. While I hope that the movie does the book justice, I know it can in no way compare to it. There is literally no way to transfer all of the magic of Forman’s writing to the big screen; it’s better done on paper. In a way, I’m glad there isn’t much hype about it yet because perhaps for just a little while longer, it can be my secret…magic that I discovered a few years ago. Regardless, I am pumped to see the movie.

Hi! I just have a Request from Shellie or ally. Would it be okay if and when the Gallagher girl movie comes to being planned that they not change most of the book’s plot? (Any other girls feel the same way?) Many movies I watched had changed some of my favorite books plots entirely, and I get sorely disappointed. For me, this is one of my favorite book series in ages and I just don’t want the movies to ruin it, but try to follow it. (Just like the Harry potter movie series) thank you!
