Magnificent Puzzler Monday

November 18, 2013 by Shellie 96 Comments

Hi Everyone!

As promised I have a puzzle for you today!

It is a Caesar Cipher but this time I am not telling you which way or how many spaces you need to shift the letters!

EBXL PX MXEE MAXF MH HNK XGXFBXL PX MXEE MAXF MH HNK YKBXGWL TGW XOXGMNTEER PX MXEE MAXF MH HNKLXEOXL

I will hold all comments for 48 hours with answers in them but  I will allow comments that are tips or encouragement for each other! I know all the Gallagher Girls work better as a team!

Good Luck,

Shellie

Fun Fact: I often use past t-shirt contest entries for Ally’s Tumblr page for Fan Art Fridays! So go check it out!

Ok, here goes. Is it to a shift of 19. And is the quote ‘Lies, we tell them to our enemies, we tell them to our friends and eventually we tell them to ourselves’? Sorry if you are or were still working on it.

“Lies,” Mr Solomon said the next morning as we walked into the class room. “We tell them to our friends,” he said. “We tell them to our enemies. And eventually…we tell them to ourselves.” He turned to write on the board.

I know, it said that they had not been approved and then I look today and they are all here! There must be something wrong with my laptop. But it’s really annoying because now it looks like I just posted the same thing.

Sorry if you are or were still working on it. I figured it out last night but wanted everyone to have a go as well. Thanks for the puzzle! I got my friends into Caesar ciphers too and we learnt all these codes.

Sorry if you are or were still working on it. Thanks for the puzzle. I introduced my friends to the Caesar cipher and then we researched loads of other codes as well.

It says: Lies. We tell them to our enemies, we tell them
to our friends, and eventually we tell them to ourselves.
( I added in the periods and commas because it made more sense that way.)

Thanks for all the fun Ally and Shelly!!

Ok here’s something that helped me:

In this word “XOXGMNTEER” notice how there are double letters at the end “EE.”
There are only so many letters that could be used as a double (O,L, etc.)
And then, when you figure that out, just fill it in for the rest.

    Hope this helps!

I know this has nothing to do with the puzzle, but I would like to point out that today is Matthew Morgan’s birthday. Happy birthday Matt!

    The Cipher translates to:
LIES WE TELL THEM TO OUR ENEMIES WE TELL THEM TO OUR FRIENDS AND EVENTUALLY WE TELL THEM TO OURSELVES
And can be found in Cross my Heart and hope to spy on Pg 185

    Thanks for the fun contest!

This was so much fun! The shift is 7 to the right.
The puzzle is: Lies, we tell them to our enemies, we tell them to our friends, and eventually, we tell them to ourselves.
So, just out of curiosity I wanted to see the place in the book that this was from. A lot of people are saying that it’s from Cross My Heart, Chapter 22, when Joe Solomon says “Lies. We tell them to our friends, we tell them to our enemies, and eventually…we tell them to ourselves.”
So, in the puzzle it says enemies before friends, and in the book, Mr. Solomon says friends before enemies. SO, either this was a mistake that we were not supposed to notice, or, it is actually somewhere else in the book. When I first solved the puzzle, I thought for sure that this was a Cammie quote, it sounds like something that she would be thinking in the book.
Also, there is the possibility that I am just crazy, since no one else seems to have noticed this but me.
