Magnificent Mustache Monday

May 6, 2013 by Shellie 171 Comments

Hi Everyone!

Hope you all had a great week last week and an even better one this week!

Since Ally has so many fans across the nation and across the world I wanted to ask what is cool where you live? What is the latest fad in your area?

Right now in our area everyone seems to be mustache crazy! Kids are having mustache parties and wearing fake mustaches for fun.

Here is a pic of me with a silly mustache:

mustache me

Hope you all have a giggle over my silly photo! I will see if I can get Ally to take a picture with a mustache this week and post later ; )

Here is Ally’s mustache photo:

Love you guys!

xoxo,

Shellie

I come from oahu, hawaii, and currently, the boys love snapbacks, pennyboards, fixie bikes, and knife dancing.Girls love high low dresses, studs, lace, and loose fitted shirts. Many people, including boys also half bleach their dark hair, which is usually layered for girls. (Thats a local hawaiian thing) Girls wear a lot of sandals, vans, and not that many converse. Charlette russe was a pretty popular store for the girls to get their banquet dresses from. Oh, and mustaches came and still linger, but is disappearing…

I’m from California and right now the mustache fad is kinda fading. Also the Cup Song fad…sadly “Thrift Shop” is still in even though I HATE that song…French manicures are totally in, and also dying your hair crazy colors that are still pretty (turquoise, bright pink, purple that’s so dark it looks black) also short shorts, leggings with crop tops, vans, converse, Toms, Nike socks (for guys at least), snapchatting, Instagram, tumblr, iPhones, androids phones, that “turtling” thing someone mentioned above….so yeah. There’s more that I can’t think of right now but that’s most of it. Btw I’m a sophomore (that means I’m in year 10, for you Australians and Canadians…I’ve met quite a few Canadians in model UN conferences and they never know what being a sophomore or junior or whatever means) so this is what high schoolers are doing right now…go California….

I live in Missouri and over here high-low dresses are called mullet dresses because they’re short in the front and long in the back like a mullet. They sell them at the malls here but I’ve never actually seen anyone wearing one.

Long hair is definitely in though. Especially braids and curly hair.

I’m from Ontario, Canada, and things that are big right now are the Knife song, YOLO, moustaches, the cup song, Harlem Shake, Thrift Shop, plaid shirts, short shorts, knee-high socks with Uggs (when it’s cold), Apple products, and since I’m in Grade 8, graduation is a really big deal right now because everyone is buying their dresses and all of the guys are comparing shirts and it’s just insane…
It’s funny to see how many different places have the same traditions!

I’m not really sure what the latest big thing is right now, but I owls and moustaches were pretty big a while ago but now they’re starting to die out. I guess Vans are too, but now that everyone’s got them its like no one cares anymore. Really short shorts are pretty big here, but now that its autumn … Well yeah…
But onesies are really in (especially animal ones!) but it’s really interesting to see how everyone around the world has the same kinds of fads going on.

OK, so I live in New Jersey like half an hour away from NYC. And at my school it almost seems like the guys talk about hair and shoes more than the girls do. Its kinda funny, actually. They have their sneakers that cost $100 and their gelled hair, and the “popular girls” just wear sweats and revealing tanks. But one of my friends was told to put her clothes back on cuz her T-shirt was too big & falling off her shoulder. My friends and I love reading, especially Ally’s books!!!
