Mini Blog: Perks

September 21, 2012 by Ally Carter 44 Comments

Are you guys excited about the PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER movie?

Because I’m seriously excited about it!

-Ally

ps: just as a general rule, the better YA movies do, the more likely Hollywood is to make more YA movies.  So when in doubt, support them!

Yes! The first thing it made me think of was Love You Kill You because Dee Dee was talking about being a wallflower.

I have to say, I was not a big fan of the book. But, I do love Emma Watson. I’m torn. What i’m really excited for is Pitch Perfect (clearly not a YA movie, check with your parents if applicable)!

I don’t know, from what I’ve heard about it, it sounds a little odd. I would go see it just because it has Logan Lerman and Emma Watson, but it’s PG13.

It is a little odd. I read it in class because I really didn’t want to read science fiction, and Perks of Being a Wallflower was the only other option. There is a reason it is PG-13, and that is the content of various drugs and sex. It was well-written, and if you like that kind of realistic teen fiction, it is actually really good. I liked it more than I thought I would, and I think Emma Watson and Logan Lerman are strange choices. I want to see it just to see how well they portray the characters that are NOTHING like Percy and Hermione…

I have been waiting for that movie for so long! My friends and I really want to go see it. It was very strange watching the preview and seeing Emma Watson scream “Below Average!” as a celebratory term because I immediately thought “What have you done to Hermione?!”

I recently read this book and enjoyed it. A. Lot. I was in London on Friday and saw a bus with a “Perks” poster on it. I screamed in the street and had to stop myself from running up to the bus and hugging it! From what I’ve seen the casting seems to be amazing and I hope that the soundtrack is made out of the songs from the books.
I want to go with my friends to see it but none of them have read the book so I’ll be fangirling in the cinema and they will not experience the fangirl-ness (<NEW WORD) that I will.
    (Sorry for the long comment!)

    Love always,
    Sophia

I just want to see Emma Watson do an American accent! I wanted to ask a few questions, Ally- what’s your favourite movie? Who’s your favourite actor? Favourite spy (mine’s Garbo)? Favourite dessert? Favourite author and book? Favourite Gallagher Girl?
I love your books (but, honestly, who doesn’t?). Your on my list of top ten greatest authors of all time (along with J.K. Rowling, Emily Brönte, Charlotte Brönte, Lemony Snicket, Charles Dickens, and Oscar Wilde). Are you working on or planning to work on anything else?

Hmm it seems like your site ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I
guess I’ll just sum it up what I had written and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.

I as well am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to everything. Do you have any tips and hints for inexperienced blog writers? I’d
    genuinely appreciate it.
