Hi, everybody!

I write to you tonight from my hotel in Washington, D.C. where I will mark the release of the fifth Gallagher Girls book tomorrow with a few school visits and a signing at the wonderful Bethesda Public Library.

We’ve been getting a few of the usual questions about signings, signing protocol, and whatnot, so here is a quick and dirty recap.

1. Always check with the host store (websites are great for this) to confirm the date, time and location. (sometimes events are held off-site).

2. Also check with the store to find out if they have any signing policies.

For example, sometimes stores will ask that you buy the new book from them. Sometimes they just ask that you buy a coupon that can be used for any book. Sometimes no purchase is required (but, on a personal note, I always appreciate it when you guys support the store that has gone to the trouble of having me. So even if you buy my book elsewhere–if that is allowed–please buy SOMETHING at the store to show your thanks and to encourage them to bring in other authors you might want to see.)

3. I am happy to sign all of my books if time allows. Usually it does, but sometimes the crowds are so big that we have to limit it to two or three books. Or sometimes we will say that the new book can be personalized (To Jessica, For Emily, etc) and the others will just get a signature only.

Really, it all varies depending on the location, crowd, space, etc.

4. Another thing that will vary is how long the event will last. I really, truly don’t know. I will usually talk for 20-30 minutes taking questions and speaking a little. Sometimes the store will do door prizes or have some announcements. And then we will do the signing, and how long that lasts is entirely dependent upon crowd size. Needless to say it is faster to sign books for twenty-five people than it is for 250 (and I’ve had ranges just that big)

If you really need to know how long the event will last, then the best thing is probably to, again, contact the host store and see how many people they might be expecting. Beyond that, I’d allow for an hour and a half to two hours (but it could be quite a bit longer).

  2. I GOT THE BOOK!!!!!! I came home and it was laying on my bed, along with my blinds from my window (long story short, don’t take out your screen unless ur sure u can get it back in)

  6. I live in Canada, and on the thirteenth I went to Chapters, AND THEY DIDN’T HAVE IT! IN ANY STORES ACROSS THE CITY! I was soooo mad, and then I heard that they don’t even have a shipping date, and it’s coming out on the 19TH, THAT’S HORRIBLE! I CAN’T WAIT ANY LONGER, I’M GOING TO DIE! I hope they get it soon!

  9. Just finished readign GG5 and it is AHHH-MAZING!!!!!! Great job, Ally. Can’t wait for the sixth book and the third book to the Heist series! 🙂

  11. When are we gonna start our courses of study? The one in the gallagheracademy.com it says spring. But there’s nothing. If somebody Is going to go see ally on tour can you ask her. I couldnt ask her when she came :(.

  12. Hey Ally,
    I loved Out of Sight Out of Time!! It was amazing!!! I just wanna say that you are excellent at writing endings. Unlike other authors, you don’t leave and loose ends or mega questions (ish) or confusion. None of your books has ever failed to fufill me! So I was wondering, what happened to Jonas and Grant? And will they ever return?

    I am not Giving anything away lol) ! I couldn’t put the
    Book down but know I am mad at myself for reading
    It so fast cause now I will be anticipating GG6 no rush
    Or anything! It was the best one yet and a lot of surprises

  16. Finished the book 🙂 it was AMAZING!!! U r truely an inspiration! Ive read all of th GG books and the first HS but sadly I haven’t read the 2nd yet 🙁 I REALLY want to though! ….. I think this was the most action packed/ adventure filled GG book yet! Thank u so much for all of ur hard work I think I speak for everyone when I say we truely appreciate it! 🙂 one more time, THANK U 😀

One more thing 🙂 the book was great and so was your writing bc I felt exactly what Cammie was feeling, when she was confused, I was confused, when she was angry, I was angry… (I think u get the point 🙂 ) and I have a hunch on what the next book will be about, but I’m not saying anything more bc it would give GG5 stuff away and I don’t want to do that bc I know some ppl haven’t got to read it yet 🙁

  19. Oh Ally. Seeing you was amazing. Loved it so much, Children’s Book World is so adorable and quaint. Was so worth it even if I had to wear m y uniform:) At least I looked similar to the Gallagher Girls haha:)

  20. WOW just WOW. I got the book at like 9-10 pm at night yesterday and didn’t stop reading till I finished it at 12-1 am. That, I think is the fastest I have read a book and thanks for making it so amazing that I could keep going. When I finished chapter 30 I kept worrying the book would end soon, as when I was at the last chapter I kept reading the cliff-hangery parts over and over again cause I was scared to scroll down and see the story finished. Thankfully that didn’t happen though the story did finish 🙁 This book was truly amazing..with jaw dropping, tear streaming, breathtaking and laughing moments 🙂

    I guess up next is the 3rd Heist Society book? Excited 😀

  24. I’m soooooooo happy, I read it in one day and then the day after my ereader broke and I was like, thank god I finished that before it broke :). But I’m mad at myself. I told myself I wouldnt read it in one day because then I would just be mad that the next one wasent out yet. And thats def true. Besides finding out what happens in GG6 I’m most excited to see were Cammie and Zachs relationship goes. As far as that, with out giving much away. I was upset in the beging with them if u get what im saying. I mean there both descride as hot but still

  25. Honestly, you are so inspirational that I think you could start a spy camp and all of us Gallagher Girls would go. That would be so awesome! Anyways, the GG books are amazing and I love them! I’ve also read the Heist Society books and I love those too. But my favorite is the 5th book in the GG series. I can’t wait for more. 😀

  27. So just to be clear there is going to be a 6th book………right? I jsut finnished the 5th and I might cry if it was the last book. Don’t get me wrong, it was an amazing book but I really need a little more closure.

  29. Uhhhhhhhhhh I have to wait til the school book fair which is tommorow! But I’m sad cuz it’s my last book fair ever and they better have out of sight out of time

  30. Omg I have been waiting for this book to come out since may last year!!! Its so hard because i live in the UK so the book has only just came out ! I got it yesterday and finished it within the night – staying up till 12:30am haha. Its is soo good!!!!!!!!! I was sat in my room crying through half of it especially through the end of chapter 39 and chapter 40! I actually thought Cammie was going to jump! Now… I am dying for there to be another book! Please, Please, Please write another book!!!! I am totally in love with the gallagher girls series and today i might just start from the beginning and read I’d tell you i love you, then i’d have to kill you again! And then i will carry on reading all the way through to Out Of Sight Out Of Time again! <3

  31. icbi i love that book but my library is totas slow i mean they got like 9 hunger games books but they give away the last ggbook to random chik when im in line for it?!?t rly i love ally c. and i just rrrreeellyy need to know if she has a name for the 6th book yet :\ molly i cried 2lol icb that they rly did that to cammy…… Ben watin 4ever 4 the book but loved it .weard….:)
