Mission #8

January 25, 2012 by Ally Carter 125 Comments

Hi Girls,

Mission #8 is a date shift cipher. I am not going to give you any information on how to solve this. I want you to research it yourselves…because all good spies are excellent at research 😉

The date is February 19th 1947

VIN SUNZ ZYLUURSU VIJX YGNJMUGE FEZ YIH M’K JBEI AQ MNECG.

Once you solve mission #10 I will be rewarding you with a larger excerpt from GG5.

After mission #10 the missions are going to become more complex and they may even become stacked so that you have to go through multiple phases of decoding.

Good Luck Gallagher Girls!!

xoxo,

Molly

Oh my gosh. That was so much fun. I love date shift ciphers. I used to do them all the time. Thank you so much!

I asked earlier what the date numbers were, it was 21947, so take out the 0 and the 19 of 1947. She could have also done just February 1947, no date in time, though i looked up the date and it sounds like an interesting one!

I can do the code… But only the first word I got made sense!
Am I doing something wrong? I got “The rljs xxc…” and then I stopped because I need to figure out what I’m doing wrong!

It wasn’t that hard! You just put the numbers 21947 (the date) repeatedly over the letters. Write out the alphabet. For each letter in the code, go back however much the number above tells you to. Like the letter V has a 2, so the V is really a T 🙂

I’m almost wondering if we were given the wrong date. I’ve tried decoding it but get more jumbled words. Is there a second step to it? *Sigh…* I’ll keep trying. I’m gonna get it this time!
