Hi guys,

It’s that time again–time for another round of ASK ALLY!  The gameshow sensation that’s sweeping the nation.

Okay.  So it’s not a gameshow.  And it’s not a sensation.  But it is a lot of fun.

What happens:  you guys can post questions in the comments section of THIS blog.  Then in a week or so I will turn off comments and go through and answer as many questions as I can.

But there’s a catch!

1.  I will not answer questions that are already answered here on the blog, in the FAQ, and in other extremely obvious places.  (example: how many Gallagher Girl books will there be?  How did I get the idea for the Gallagher Academy?  Will there be a movie?  Etc.)

Those questions have been asked.  They’ve been answered.  Let’s cover NEW territory here, okay.  So before you ask a question please make sure your question hasn’t already been answered (chances are it has)

 

2.  I will not answer questions that are spoilers for future books.  (Will we find out what happened to Cammie’s dad?  Why is the Circle after Cammie?  What is Hale’s first name?  Etc.)

 

3.  Duplicate questions will be deleted and will not be answered. 

Past experience has taught me that these types of posts will get hundreds of comments–and that’s EXTREMELY cool!  But going through that many comments takes a lot of time that I should be using writing more books.

People always post the same questions over and over, usually citing that “they’re too busy to read all the comments to make sure this isn’t a duplicate.”  Well, that implies that your time is far more valuable than my time.  And that’s not cool.

In other words, if you don’t have time to read and not ask duplicates, please don’t ask questions at all.  I have a massive deadline and other things on my plate and I would love for this to be as efficient as possible.

 

4.  And finally please post no more than three questions each, and please make your question as concise as possible. 

Example:  “Dear Ally, how did you decide to have Kat go after a cursed gem in Heist 3 instead of another piece of Holocaust art?”

As a rule, questions shouldn’t be more than 30-40 words long.

    i am a writer myself i have a dream of publishing my first book at 15. i am only 12 and i have already started writing. but i am having trouble thinking of a good hook. how do you think of your ideas, writers block isn’t fun. i know there are so many comments but if i could get your advice it would mean the world to me.

    I love your books!I have spent the last 30 minutes searching the web for a trace of your 6 or 7 book of the gallagher girl series. Or the third book to the Heist society. Is it out? WHERE IS IT?

    I’m sorry If someone asked this question already I couldn’t read through them all to know. Well, anyways I love the gallagher girl series and I would love to see it as a movie. So, my question is who would be your dream cast for the movie if there was one because I would really want to know how the characters look like in your perspective. Also I’m wondering if there is going to be a movie or I it is even an idea of making one.thank you so much and I really hope you answer my question!!! I look up to you and you are my favorite author!!!! You inspire me!!!

  10. I’ve looked through most of this page and I can’t find the question I want to ask. So, I’m sorry if this is repetitive if it is already posted!

    When will GG6 come out? I know the 3rd HS book is coming out in February, but will the Sixth GG book come out in 2013 too???

  14. Hi! Just wanted to say that I so love Gallagher Girls. Before, my favorite book was Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead-I think it was the best book I have ever read, until my scout friend let me borrow a book from her titled “Gallagher Girls”! right from the first book, Gallagher Girls catches already my taste in books!
    PLEASE let the “extreme effect” not be Zach .PLEASE. I so wanted Cammie and Zach be together.
    Will they be together??? Yes???No???

    • I agree! Cammie and Zach should be together forever, but the more i read Ally’s books, the more i get the feeling that Zach is still a bad guy. I hope that what i think isn’t true. I love you Ally!<3

    Personally in gg6 I think Abby and Townsend should get together and
    So should joe and Rachel. I mean Abby and Townsend fight a lot but that just makes the relationship more interesting and Rachel and joe, yeah he her dead husband best friend but she got to move on sometime right? And who better than joe:)x
    P.S I think the gg and hs are the GREATEST serias ever!x

    What does LYKY and CMH stand for? Also on the t-shirts and items that may be purchased one of teh quotes said,” Sorry Zach, Hale stole my heart” does this have anything to do with the books? or is it just a fan preferance? it sort of confused me a little.

    I just am in LOVE with the Gallagher Academy!! I haven’t read out of sight out of time yet, but I am aching too!
    I also can’t wait to read the Heist series , too!
    Couple Questions:
    I know you’re busy ,but it would be great if you could email me your email address because I would like to see what your writing tips are. I am hoping to become a journalist someday…
    One question:
    Who’s your favorite character in the Gallagher Academy that you wrote?
    Why do they have trailers for your book when their not going to make a movie? It was the one on out of sight out of time and it doesn’t make sense to have a trailer about it when their not going to do a movie?)

  30. Hey ally, i know sum oeoole think having the GG books as a movie is a bad idea but i think u shud REALLY consider making them a movie. So i think you should try to have someone make it s movie. The books are just AMAZING!!!!! How do you come up with these awesome ideas!!!! So my question is will you have Zach and Cammie start OFFICIALLY dating in book 6? I’m definitley on team Zach!!!!

    If you ever happen to make a movie, can you please make a casting because I would love to be in it. I love your books and have been stuck to it ever since GG2. You are an amazing writer and also, some of my friends were so inspired that they are trying to make a book dedicated to you even though they have only written up to chapter 3. I am actually a sort of “actor” and if you have a movie, please, please, please have a casting.Thank you.:)

    1. Do you think possibly that there might be a spin-off of the gg books? (maybe about one of the characters)

    2. I think it would really be awesome if someday you could maybe Wright another gg book about when they’re 10 years older or something, do you think that could be a possibility?

    I am a passionate writer and whenever I create a new character I like to base their personality loosely on myself or people I know in order to make it easier to connect to write about what they would do. Did you create the characters in the Gallagher Girls series similarly? I always wonder what the pre-writing processes are like for other writers!

  47. Hello as a Dyslexic fan I am very disappointed that “Perfect Scoundrels” did not come out in audio form. As a member of audio book clubs and a person who depends on them to be able to enjoy books this saddens me. I hope this will be rectified and that GG6 will come out in audio form at the same time it comes out in Hardcover. I would hate to miss the last book. It is sad enough the series is ending but not to be able to enjoy the last book would be a terrible. You probably don’t know how may of your fans are like me and rely on audio books. So please remember fans that are unable to read your amazing books but still want to know them. If your publisher is bocking at putting them out in unabridged form please let me know I will tell them how a farm girl from North Dakota has finally been able to enjoy books. That abridging them really distorts the author’s vision of the book. Please, please put these books out in audio I’ve been waiting to enjoy them I don’t know what to do.

    • Hello.

      I actually do not hold the audio rights to Perfect Scoundrels. Those were sold to Disney-Hyperion as a part of my publishing contract. Disney-Hyperion then re-sells the rights to an audiobook publisher (in my case, usually Brilliance Audio.)

      We have asked many times about the status of a Perfect Scoundrels audiobook. It seems that Disney-Hyperion is the in the process of renegotiating the terms of their boilerplate contract.

      What does this mean? That there is not an audiobook currently, but there hopefully will be in the future.

      It also means that the lack of an audiobook was not a call I made personally or intentionally. It is simply the way the business works sometimes.

  48. Ally, i have been wondering…where do you learn about these spy thingies?
    I’m just super upper mesmerized by your writing. Exactly how do you do that? Bringing knowledges and emotions in one. That’s just my ideal book i’ve always needed
