Big News (that isn't exactly news)

Hi everybody,

Well, I guess it’s official. Several months ago I sold two new books to my publisher, and today the news went out in Publisher’s Lunch:

Children’s: Young Adult

NYT, WSJ, and USA Today bestselling author Ally Carter’s sixth and final novel in the Gallagher Girls series, and the third novel in the Heist series, to Stephanie Owens Lurie and Cat Onder at Disney-Hyperion.

Is this really news? Well, not really since I’ve been talking about writing these books for some time, and this is all stuff that everyone here probably already knew. But I didn’t want anyone hearing it somewhere else either.

So there you have it

There will be a Heist Society 3.

There will be a Gallagher Girls 6.

And Gallagher Girls 6 will be the last in the series.

I’m sure that I will have a lot to say on that topic in the coming months. Writing this series has been the experience of a lifetime and I do not want to think about what life will be like when it’s over. But I also know that I want to end the series on the strongest note possible, and I honestly think ee wre one book away from that.

So there you have it, gang. The big news that isn’t really news except for all the ways it is.

  1. Hello, I just want to say i really love reading the gallagher girls books. There really exciting and fun ,and they pull you into the story. I personally enjoy reading the novel. I have read many books ,and your book is most likely the best book i have ever read. I have read the gallagher girl series over 50 times ,because i kept finding something interesting in them every time i read them. They kept my attention every time i looked at them. I recommend this book to all of my friends to read.

  2. Wow your books are fab they have so much adventure I just love them !!!!! Looking forward to the 6th GG I bet it will be spectacular like all your other ones, it’s a shame it will be the last one but I guess all good things have to come to an end at some Point . Anyway as soon as that book is realised I’m gonna be the first one to grab of that shelf !!! 😉

    Today I finished the series!
    I woke up at 7 in the morning to finish it!!!!
    Me and my bff love the series. My friends think were geeky but there just rude and there missing out on SOOOO MUCH!

  4. Ally I really want these books to continue you have inspired me to start writing myself and I wish there could be at least 2 or 3 more books because your books are the only books I’m interested in (and the hunger games) please don’t stop writing!
    P.S I know you probably won’t believe me when I say this but I think your books are better than the hunger games! Xxxx

    1) When will the 6th GG book come out?
    2) Have you ever thought about making a movie of the GG books cos I think they would be a big hit!

  7. Donno how to feel about this to be honest! Im so excited to read GG6 but i dont kno how i can survive without Cammie after that!! And how can i go on without Zach?? If no one makes a movie of these books i’ll di it myself!! Good luck anyways Ally.. Im sure it will be amazing as always!! x

  12. My friend told me about GG about four years ago and I fell in love. I have read each one about four times. I love all of the characters (especially Zach) and I am so excited for the sixth. Obviously, after almost five years I will be sad to see them end, but I respect Ally’s decision to stop writing. I think that if she kept writing about Cammie it might ruin the books. I think maybe a simple epilogue at the end of the sixth book, maybe on her relationship with Zach and what she does now, would be sufficient. A book from Mr. Solomon’s POV might be good. Ally Carter, thanks for giving me something to smile about for so long:)

Hey I know that GG6 will be the last of the GG series, but if you makre a book about like maybe Cam and Zach having children and them going on spy mission and going to a spy school….I WILL readt it!!! I love the GG series and I always will. I just barely finished the 5th book…IT WAS AMAZING!!!

  14. OMG! That makes me so sad to here that the series is going to end! You are 1 out of a couple authors that can make me not want to put down a book. I am going to miss this series too much. I wish there is going to be a seventh!

I fell in the with the gallagher books I liked the first 1 but then there was a twist in the second book and I fell madly in love with it I like Zach more than Josh (sorry Josh)(aka Jimmy) I cant wait till the next one comes it would be sad to see the series end, so if you can’t fit it all in the 6th I’m sure your fans and I would LOVE a 7th!

  19. no the GG series cant end im reading so much now my mom yells at me to stop reading! on the weekends all i do is read!! if anything make a series about blackthorn and Zach!!!!! :] my life will be over if the series ends.

  21. Hey Ally and to ALL!! well i am very happy that there will be a 6th book. yet i am very sad that it’s the last. AND I WILL BE SAD FOREVER!! i do agree with everyone else, we just dont like to end the GG series. it’s like ending the happy moment s of our reading life. but i hope you could really write books after the girls graduated? AND YES! this come up in my mind– MAYBE THERE’LL BE A MOVIE? FROM BOOK 1 to 6? and i hope disney will cooperate? LIKE MAYBE WE COULD HAVE OUR VOTES OR SIGNATURES TO CAMPAIGN FOR A MOVIE? uhh.. i’ve read all the books already until 5.( just to share you im a GG too) 😀 happy day!

  23. Ok so, I am totally insanely obsessed with your books I have read them so many times! I am extatic there will be a 6th book even though I will finish in one day that’s how obsessed I am with it. I personally don’t think you should end the series. Everybody loves your books and would continue reading them. Maybe you could write a 7th about commie after she graduates and possible her love life;) you could also write the 2nd and up books from Zachs point of view

  25. OK, I may just be stupid, but I can’t find the GG book 6 release date anywhere? Is there one yet? Because, obviously, it’s ’13! IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII am sooo excited! I’ve read and reread the series probably over 8 times… I need (NEED!) the 6th book! Help!

  26. OMG I need you to write more books!!!! I finished the fourth book last night-it was so interesting and AWESOME that I couldn’t put it down to go to sleep! I stayed up until about 1:30 AM!! Please write more books than just 6!! These are my favorite books EVER!!! Please? 😐

  27. I’m actually really excited that you’ve not only written another heist society, but are working on the next gallagher book. I literally fell in love with your series and as an avid reader you’ve kept me on edge always checking Barnes and Noble for release dates. I can’t wait to see how you end everything, especially the relationship between Zach and Cammie. Literally since the moment she met him in DC I knew he would become an important character and I definitely love him and wish he was real. Josh was nice and sweet, but Cammie definitely needed a guy with a little more adventure. I will be disappointed that it’s the end, but all good things must come to an end and there is still the hopes of maybe another heist society?? Thank you so much for taking the time to be such a dedicated author and writing out books that have literally made my adolescence.

  29. OMG i just looove u ally i looove all your books too! im reading the first book of Heist Society and its great! i have been taking gallangher books out of my school libery and waiting for the 5th gg book….I WANT U TO WRITE MORE!I JUST LOVE THEMMMM!

I bet that allmost everyone who has ever read your books want the GG books to go on (myself included)but if you realy want to end it then end it but in my opinon if you had to end it then don’t let them destroy the book in the movie if they make one i think (you should be there!) And they should make a movie……………i wish you would go on but it is your desion not your fans or eny ones but your’s Ally you should realy do a 7th and 6th because they cann’t be boring and have Zach and Cammie in it i think you writing is asome and sooooooooooo goodddddd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  34. I LOVE these books. I hate to see them end! Could u make a short story or even a whole book on what happened on Cammie’s summer after she left. I would definetly read it and im sure lots of other people would too. U should make a story about what happens to Cammie, Bex, Liz, Macey and Zach after they graduate. I am interested to know and I am sure other people are too.

    Please don’t stop the GG series! You are probably my most favourite author and I absolutely love reading your books. If you stop at number 6, we’ll never know what happens the rest of Zach, Cammie and gang’s life. I think you should right a sequel series on them when they’ve graduated from the Gallagher School. I want to know if Zach and Cammie get married and go on missions just like Bex’s parents do and Cammie’s did! I want to know if there’s a new plot against the world that Zach and Cammie have to take down. Please don’t make it end at number 6! It would be the worst possible ending to a series as great as this!

Please don’t finish the series 🙁 you could write about cammies missions like her fathers journal ,Zach could be in it too,.then you could go on to write how each of them like there new way of life in the real world not just learning about it . You could write them almost as letters to each other and what each girl/boy was doing and maybe bex could go back to teach cove ops or something !!!!!!! Please !! 🙁

  38. You should not finish gg when there is soooo much more stuff to write about !!! For example ; what cammies does after graduation (maybe a journal like her dads), what bex, Macy, and Liza, do (letters to and from the girls), if it goes any further with Zach, him and cammie on a mission (his journal) we could also find out what he was doing in the other books or maybes a veiw from one of the girls who goes back to teach at gg academy !!!! Please don’t stop writing about there life’s !!!!!!!!!:(

I LOVED the GG series but I think its ok that it will end on a 6th book. personally I didn’t think that there would be one after the GG5 I thought that was it! im excited for this book but would love to see a bit more of josh in it. I do love zack more but I would like to know a bit more about him now? compared to everything we knew about him in the first book. 😀

  50. I finished the 6th book and I loved it! But it kind of left you at a hanging point….. will there be a follow up book or even series? I have also heard they are making movies is this true? Please reply. Thanks.

    P.s. Did you base these books off a real school and can I buy any merchandise for the Gallagher girls?
