So who is starting school this week?

What grade will you be in (or be teaching!)?

Have a great year, everyone!

You’re actually sooo lucky. My high school was in a totally different town (it was a magnet school) so I had to catch my bus at 6:20 every morning. Waking up at 5 am every day is not fun 🙁

Luckily I’m going to college, and the earliest class I have is at 11!

You guys are soooo lucky to get even that much sleep… I’m going into 8th grade, and I have to leave the house at 6 every morning so that I can take the 6:06am bus to the subway station into the city, and then transfer to two other subways, at which point I’m close enough to school to walk there. I can’t sleep on the bus or subway either, in case I miss my stop (yes, that’s happened to me before… a lot).
Classes start on September 8th, but I have to go to the orientation on the 7th and I have to go to a robotics meeting earlier in the week. I’m already stressed out because last year we got 4 hours of homework a night (and trust me; I’m a fast worker), and plus they’re working us harder this year since apparently 8th-11th grade goes on my college transcript… ugh.
I probably won’t get more than 6 hours of sleep on the average night, depending on how I manage my time–especially during midterms and finals weeks what with all the term papers. Honestly, a twelve-year old needs more than 6 hours of sleep on a school night (which is all I get once you factor in the swimming, flute lessons, debate team meetings, math team meetings, robotic team meetings and community service I do…). Don’t get me wrong; I love school (because my friends are awesome and classes are really fun) but we get waayyyyy too much homework, and I hate the commute.
If only I had graduation to look forward to, but we don’t graduate until 12th grade. *sigh*
In other words, enjoy the sleep while you can.
