Hey Canada, I’ve got some questions for you (if that’s okay)…
–where do you buy your books?
–how do you hear about books you want to buy?
Just curious. And thanks.
Ally

I get mine at Chapters/Indigo/Coles. I usually go online or to sites to check out upcoming books or new releases. Sometimes my teachers recommended books but I usually just see them at Chapters/Indigo/Coles or at their websites.
Well just like most Canadians I buy my books from Chapters Coles or Indigo and I find out about books from my friends and google… (: I got your series at Chapters when I had a gift card and my mom picked up CMH randomly and I just bought it. Then I got Love you Kill you from chapters.ca because they don’t sell it in stores anymore and before that I looked at your website to get more info and I guess it went from there.
i buy books from indigo. i just love it in there from some reason. sometimes i buy books from costco if they have the book i want because its cheaper. i usually hear about new books from author’s blogs or my friend OR from indigo’s website
Well, I get my books from Chapters and Coles. As for where I hear about books, there’s this bulletin board in my school library with a lot of books on it, I also hear about books on the internet.
I buy my books at Chapters.
And I usually just look around Chapters or goodreads
I buy my books from Chapters mostly and I usually chose them from whichever ones catch my eye at the store (sorta juding a book by the cover I know!)
ALLLLYYYY π
I buy my books @ ChaptersIndigo and Coles I hear about books by sometimes finding them in the ” readers who bought this book also bought _____ ” section on Chapters/Indigo website , I hear about books through friends, youtubers , family , general media , through authors websites , online searching , and MOST times I just go to Chapters and browse through the isles and find books .
Ps hope you have a great day and Canada sends you Winter greetings !
love ya ! xxx
Hi Ally!
I usually get books at Coles/Chapters/Indigo. Usually Coles because it’s closest. I usually hear about them from friends, or teachers, or i find them on the computer. Sometimes I find them in school book orders. I found your books in a book order from school.
i get my books at chapters/coles, and i picked them up at the library, and then loved them so much that i went out and bought them all!
my five friends and i are OBSESSED!
I buy my book at Chapter or at amazon.ca
Must of the time I hear about new books from the author, my friends or from blogs.
well i saw your books on a scholastic magasine and ordered from there then the rest was from indigo/chapters
canada’s got ur back π
when i lived in canada i bought my books at Coasco….they have AMAZING variety!!! Nver went to chapters, it cost too much and i didn’t have that much money when i was ten π and my teachers would recommend books to the class.
More often than not, I buy my books at Chapters, Indigo, or Coles (the online website counts too!), although mostly Chapters because they’re the most common around my area and are usually huge and connected to a Starbucks π
I like sitting there for hours sometimes with a hot chocolate and a good book.
For books, my friends are my best reference! They’re readaholics too! π But I have to say that I DO judge books by their covers (not that I’m proud of it, but I’m not entirely ashamed either) and if the summary or excerpt is interesting enough, I buy it! π
And if I like it enough, I recommend it to MY friends!
Love from Canada! (Which is facing major coldness right now, but I love anyways.) Happy winter, Ally π
I buy most of my books at chapters, and I usually only buy books I have previously read and love so much I want to own them. so I get book ideas from friends and the LIBRARY (best place in the world) the library is actually my main source of reading material, I take books out instead of buying them, and if I just keep taking them out and reading the again and again then I buy them
Ally, I love your books.
I get my books from Chapters.
I hear all your new books from my friends. We are obsessed with your books. Your books are epic.
Come to Mississauga. I so want to meet you. xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
The biggest book retail chain in Canada is deffinetly Indigo; which encompasses Chapters, Coles, Smith Books and a number of other smaller stores. That is where I and basically everyone I know gets their books.
The best place to find out about books is a little different; I tend towards Author Websites and http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/
Chapters sometimes posts ‘coming soon’ titles, but those are usually just big ones that everyone reads (Twilight, Harry Potter and the like) but the great thing about becoming a part of what they call the ‘Chapters Indigo Community’ is that there are forums and groups you can join where other members talk about the books their reading and what they like and dont like.
where: amazon.ca, chapters, indigo, choles, cost-co, shoper’s drugmart,
how do I hear about them: author websites, amazon.ca, browsing the store, backs of other books
i usually buy my books at chapters in particular online and i either read about books on chapters or on author websites.
I buy books at Chapters/Indigo/Coles/Smith Books. Sometimes I will buy them online with Chapters as the prices are cheaper. Also, when I buy books I always buy them in paper. Ebooks and Kobos are not quite to my liking. (:
I usually read the “Globe and Mail” art, focus and book pages. I look up books that have been on the bestseller list for sometime. Some of my friends give me recommendation. Other times still I will just be browsing around online and looking at author blogs when I discover they have books that I might enjoy.
I usually buy my books at Indigo, The World’s Biggest Book Store, or Chapters. Maybe even ordering from Scholastic at school. I usually hear about books from book review blogs e.g. The Story Siren and Lauren’s Crammed Bookshelf or other authors’ blogs.
Hi Ally,
Can you please do another Q&A post soon?
Thank you,
-B
Chapters (as already mentioned, we only have one large chain of bookstores); Walmart; amazon.ca; chapters.ca; and now that they are operating on this side of the Atlantic, I’ll be checking out bookdepository.com .
Hey Ally,
Well I buy my books at either Chapters or Coles because they are the easiest places to buy them and they normally have the books that I want.
My friends and I have the same kind of taste so sometimes I hear it from them, but mostly I check the author’s website (like the way I check yours for any updates). I also ask my teachers some times because they have good choices.
π
Anyways. I hope that this helped!
Usually I buy books from Chapters/Indigo/Coles, which are all the same company. Chapters is pretty much the equivelent of Barnes and Nobles, except Chapters is organized better in my opinion. Coles is usually really small. I generally hear about books from friends or just browsing through the book store.
Chaptes/Indigo is my store of choice and I have this terrible habit of taking hours out of my day and just wandering around the store, that’s how I know what books are out. I also get their online flyer.
I mostly buy my books from Chapters/Indigo/Coles, and sometimes Safeway or Walmart because I’ll see a book that I want there and they usually have good deals. I look online a lot for books that I want, and then I click the links because those books will be similar and I will probably like them. I also hear about books from my friends or just see them in Chapters while walking around or in book orders. I also check authors websites, like yours. =)
