Hey everybody!
As everyone who takes the newsletter saw last week, we’re thiiiis close to finally having a system in place for doing live chats (moderated live chats, that is, where things hopefully will not spiral into anarchy).
It’s a work in progress, but we won’t actually know if the system is ready or not until we take her out for a spin, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do on Sunday, May 30th at 4:00 central standard time (to find out what time that is for you, ask a parent or look it up via one of the online timezone calculators.)
This will be a live chat–with me!–to discuss my newest book, Heist Society! WARNING: I fully anticipate discussing ALL of Heist Society, so there WILL be spoilers!
A few important notes about the chat.
–it will be free and open to the public world-wide
–it will be located here at AllyCarter.com in our brand new chat room (specific address to be announced closer to chat time)
–because of the sheer logistics of dealing with these things, the first 75 people who choose a username and log in will be able to ask questions.
–EVERYONE (not just the first 75) will be able to observe the chat questions and answers. (Think of it like an auditorium with 75 seats. Once those seats are full everyone else can go into another room to watch the festivities on a close-circuit TV)
—Right now the plan is to make a transcript of the chat available after the chat. (This is one of the things we’re trying out with this test run. If all goes according to plan this should happen.)
–The chat will be moderated, meaning that people can type a question, hit send, and then a moderator (probably my assistant Heidi) will pass the questions along in a nice, orderly fashion so that we don’t have pandemonium with everyone asking the same questions over and over and over again and no one actually listening to the answers.
–No one will be able to impersonate me! (yippee!)
I’m very grateful to everyone at authorbytes.com for their hard work in putting this new software together, and I really hope everything goes well with its maiden voyage!
In the meantime, get to brushing up on Heist Society and start thinking of questions!
Take Care!
Ally
ps…if you have questions about the chat (specifically, if you’ll be able to read the chat after the fact) please read this post carefully. That question–and others–are answered there.
I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL JUNE!!!!!!!!!!! I NEED GG4!!!!!!!
i still cant get it to let me sign up for the news letter! i want to but it never lets me.
Hopefully I’ll be able to get in! A great idea by the way, only a small fraction of readers ever really get the chance to talk with authors, especially when the authors are from the states (and you live in Vancouver). And their are so many questions about Heist Society that I’d love to have answered.
because of the wait till june my mind has been trying to mzke up what gg4 is goin to be…i think zach betrays her but only because his parents are part of the clan of people trying to kill her and zach loves her…and to top it off her dad is alove!!! at least thats what happens in my mind
Yay! I’m so excited! I was just wondering if the time is AM, PM, or 24 hour? Thanks!
I live in Australia and I wanted to do the chat… but I can’t because it’s on at 8am on a MONDAY!!!!! So i’ll be at school. =[

I LOVE Heist Society! BUt I kept waiting for Hale to kiss Kat already! LOL
I really liked the Gallagher Girl series, and the Heist Society. I acctually gave my copy to my friend to read, so now I can’t read it again.
I don’t know when or HOW to get to the chat, or if its even been run yet!
Just leaving you a comment to tell you that I wish the next book(Of both series) could come out… like now-ish.
Thanks!
-Kathryn Marie
Hey ally:
Did you have your vision for the Gallagher series when you first started writing I’d Tell You I Love You But Then I’d Have to Kill You? I’m really curious.
