MOVIE QUESTIONS PAGE

Thanks for your interest in the I'D TELL YOU I LOVE YOU BUT THEN I'D HAVE TO KILL YOU movie!

As I say elsewhere on this site, the movie has been optioned by the good people at Walden Media. They make great movies based on great books (CHRONICLES OF NARNIA), so I'm really thrilled to be in that company.

What follows is a list of everything I know about the movie process.

—The movie is just "optioned" at this point which means that they hold the rights to maybe, possibly make a movie someday. It is by no means that a movie will get made.

—The movie is also more-or-less on hold during the Hollywood writers strike, so that will slow things down even more. (Here's hoping the studios decide to start treating writers fairly soon!)

—The movie is being produced by Debra Martin Chase (THE PRINCESS DIARIES, SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS) and Karen Glass (THE PRINCESS DIARIES, FREAKY FRIDAY). These ladies rock!

—If the movie gets made (and that's a big if) I will not have any say in the casting decisions.

—There's really no need to write and ask me when the movie tryouts are going to be because I have no say in the casting decisions.

—Seriously. I need you guys to believe me when I say I have no say in the casting decisions.

—It's an honor having a great company like Walden take a chance on my little novel. I have my fingers crossed that something great will come of it, but in the meantime, I'm happy to just keep doing what I'm doing—which is writing books for all of you!
