Molly Monday/Mission #10

Hey Girls!

Happy Monday!

I am going to start your week off with a mission! This one is very difficult, so be prepared!

To solve this code you must first do a caesar cipher and shift the letters 7 to the right.

Once you have done this there will be 6 different languages you will need to translate. They are grouped together in phrases so that they will translate correctly.

Things to note…

  • The final word count (in English) will be 18.
  • One word is a contraction.

Good Luck everyone! Don’t forget the rules :)

xoxo,

P.S. Keep sending in Fan Art! Who knows your art might make Fan Art Friday on Ally’s Tumblr!

    First Comment! (I think)
    Happy President’s Day!

  2. Kylie says:

Holy moly! This sounds difficult! I guess I better start on it!

  3. Tina says:

    wow this is super hard!!!

  4. Carlee says:

um i don’t understand how to solve these codes :4

  5. Kylie says:

    Wait what are the languages?

  6. auntie em says:

Wow this is hard I decoded the message but I’m having trouble translating it has anyone got it yet

  7. Holly says:

WOW! It’s a good thing I have school off today! That looks hard :/ But a Gallagher Girl never backs down and I’m not going to be the first! Now I gotts to start working….

  8. Tessa says:

I hope i’m actually doing this right because tor the beginning i got: gomo twywf pszrif pwb job koh….
yeah, it just keeps going. i have no idea what languages they’re supposed to be. i may have unciphered it wrong though. hmmm…..

  9. Bella says:

The decoding isn’t hard but i have got loads of different meanings for some words!! Really confusing!

  10. Hannah says:

I figured out the Caeser Cipher, but can’t figure out the translation part!

    • Sarah says:

Type bits and pieces of it into google translate, if you have it on “recognize” it will pick up which language it is from and translate it :)

  11. Becky says:

this may seem like a stupid question but what is a caesar cipher? or is that just shifting the letters 7 to the tight? im confuzzled!!! :S

  12. Primniss says:

I wish I could work on it but I am so busy with this kinda stupid science project :/ <3 you Mr. Science-teacher-that-I-won't-give-out-your-name! Writing a letter from Charles Darwin's pov… Lots of work and research and cursive (which I suck at) and, well, if all things possible I will try to complete the mission…

  13. Afrah says:

Got it! I think. I got the word count up to 18 and all, but I still don’t have the contraction… it doesn’t add up.

    • Rachel says:

I think the contraction is “I’d” instead of “I would” which is what the words are translated to directly.

      • Lisa says:

I think you’re right on the “I would”/”I’d” being the contraction. I changed mine as soon as I read that and now everything fits together perfectly :) Thank you!

  14. Afrah says:

Woah, if my answer is right, then this book is getting really serious!

  15. Isabel says:

Wait… Isn’t a Ceasar Cipher when you move it 3 times? But we move it 7? I’m all confused now…

    • Maggie says:

They use the 3 as an example… it can be moved as many times as the person wants it to. In our case it’s moved 7 times

    • Adriana says:

A ceaser cipher is just moving the letters X times to the right. You can choose however many letters u want it to be. In this case Molly chose 7. :-)

    • Becky says:

wait, if we have to do a caeser cipher THEN move it 7 times we should move it 10 times altogether shouldnt we? aaarrrrrrrrr so confused!!

      • LizzyAKay says:

Normally a Ceaser Cipher is just 3 but Gallagher Girls have to be prepared for everything – even a mixed up cipher.

    • sally says:

if you look up ceaser cipher into wikipedia on the side there is a photo of a 3 to the right cipher you just have to change it to 7 to the right it becomes easy . the hardest part is the actual translation can any one tell me how to do it besides using google translate.

  16. katie says:

OMG!!!! I GOT IT!!!! I FEEL SO SMART!!!!

  17. Giggles says:

    There are so many choices!

  18. Taylor says:

Idk .. Wat r the languages first of all? And second I have noooo idea how to unscramble it ! Can someoneeee plz help me …kinda u no with out breaking any rules! Oh..and HOLY CRAP to the ppl who have already got it! I dont no if I can find out this one ! Maybe the next mission! But wish me luck you guys !

  19. Adriana says:

Does anyone know what language they are? or what translator did u use?

  20. Merissa says:

Hooray! I got it! The answer is…… just kidding, I know that’s not allowed.

Off topic, I took a summer class a few years back called “Cryptography and Code Breaking” at Denver University… Anyways, it really helped with this…. haha :)

  21. Robyn says:

google translate is super helpful :)

  22. ashley says:

    what is a ceaser cipher?
    ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
    freaking out! so confusing

  23. Kristen says:

this is awesome because i get another mission on my Birthday! Yay! And my birthday is President’s day! I feel so special! This is hard though….No fears, i am determinded to decode it! :)

  24. Rachel says:

I got the aswer days ago!!! The post was sent to me in an e-mail. Anyone else?

  25. Han says:

I’m so not getting. I deciphered it then put it in the Google Translater and it came out more confusing then when it went in ugh!! But a Gallagher Girl goes not give up so I’ll keep at it! Thanks for this Mission Molly!

  26. Victoria says:

How is it grouped in phrases?!?!?!?!?!

  27. courtney says:

how do you translate the words

  28. Elise says:

Last time you counted the contraction as two words, but a contraction is only one word. Did you count it as two again?

  29. jen says:

GOT THE FIRST # WORDS WooooooooOOOOOOOOOOoooo HoooooOOOOOooo! :D

  30. jen says:

    [couple words]

  31. Maggie says:

I decoded the cipher and I put it through all the different languages on google translator now i have to
figure out what the languages are also i was wondering if anybody new if you had to unscramble anything
or if the phrase just went together?

  32. Nicole says:

I’ve been working on this for at least half an hour! Haha not long at all. I have the words but I don’t get how to put them together. Can we have a hint or format?

    Plus, I have 18 words but when I make a contraction it’s 17 words… is that right?

    I like this mission!

  33. Becca says:

    ………………………………… I have no words…………………………………………………..

……………………………………………. < is my brain right now

  34. Ashley says:

I’m gonna get started but judging from ya’lls post it sounds hard

  35. Taylor says:

What is ciphering? It’s kinda a stupid question but…imma CUNFUZZLED! It’s not good ! I think imma gonna sit this mission out…I totally know it is NOT the gallagher girl thing to do at all… And the Gallagher girl in me tells me to keep trying but….I don’t know! Maybe the next mission I guess! Errrr imma so sad but I have to do what I have to do!;(

  36. MISStyrius says:

I kind of got it. I got the words:

I, idea, fear, zen, of, what, I, would, do, if, i, found, the, what, close, he, was, getting

I don’t exactly know how to unscramble those words to make sense, though. Can’t wait to see the answer!

  37. Kelli (ally carter reader forever) says:

Very hard mission, but I think I sort of had it. Translating is very hard. Google translate = YOUR FRIEND!! Thanks for the mission Molly!!

  38. Dolly says:

I have all the words but the order is confusing me. Maybe I translated some of the words into the wrong language

  39. Kristy says:

    Grrr…

  40. Julia says:

Ok I decoded it and I translated most of it and it went off to a good start, but when i finally had like 2 words left I started getting crazy translations. Aghhh! I’m mad, but that’s the farthest I got on a mission(mostly because I recently started to get into it). But tell me how in the world do you get Casserole as a translation?! Cuz I really need to know!

  41. JaneGirl says:

    Big question: When you caesar cipher it, do you do 7 to the right as in z, a, b, c, d, e, f and your letters F or do you NOT count z as one of the letters your shifting over and get the letter G? Or am I supposed to go backwards up the alphabet? Wait… am I even doing it right? Help! Can’t even start until i know :{

  42. Allie says:

    guys this is seriously hard!!

  43. Riley says:

I translated the Caesar cipher, 7 to the right, put it through google translate and now I’m a little lost

  44. KatCammie17 says:

I’m close to solving it! I need two more words and a contraction. Once I have those, I’m sure it will make a lot more sense!

  45. yoliy says:

    im so CONFUSED!!!!D:

  46. Sara says:

When doing the Caeser Cipher, do we count the letter that is being ciphered?

  47. Purplerider says:

    I almost got it!! :D

  48. Kelly says:

Ok, so I’m confused because websites say, for example, if the shift number is 3, A=D, but would it be A=C????? So, the question is do you count the first letter or not???

  49. swimmer says:

this is super hard. do u people know what languages? i have a grand list of 36 languages that they could be and i need to get rid of 30. also 18 words 6 languages. i may not be the bestat math but i think i see a connection. i cant wait to solve this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  50. JaneGirl says:

When I ciphered all the words, I got words like yczwyz. Did anyone else get that or am I doing it seriously wrong?

  51. Alana says:

YESSS! I cracked the code. Move left instead of right despite the instructions. Wow, I’ve never even heard of some of these languages. Is the contraction i’d though? it didn’t translate that way.

    • Paige says:

The contraction isn’t translated into a contraction. You have to put two of the translated words together to make the contraction. The contraction is “I’d” though.

  52. Paige says:

Yay! I got it! Here are some tips that will really help and hopefully won’t give too much away:

1st group- ZHFH MPRPY -the language it translates from starts with an I
2nd group- ILSKBY GLU -language starts with a B
3rd group- CHU DHA PR GVB KVLU -language starts with a D
4th group- RBUN P UHAHNWBHU -language starts with an F
5th group- RVSPRV ISPGB -language starts with an S
6th group- ELE ESTAVA FICANDO -language starts with a P

First decipher the groups because I DID NOT do that for you. Once each group is deciphered-using the Caesar cipher (7 to the right)-translate it using the language that begins with the letters I gave you. I highly suggest using Google Translate, that’s where I did everything. There are two “the”s in the answer that you will have to change by yourself, with no translate, so that it makes sense. One last thing, you end up with 19 words if you do this correctly. To make it 18, combine “I” and “would” to make “I’d” which ends up being the contraction.

Hope that helps and still makes you think a little! If anyone still has questions comment on this comment and I’ll try to answer you to the best of my ability.

    Your fellow Gallagher Girl,
    Paige

  53. Raven says:

Okay, I really don’t get this! If 7 to the right, You get words like GOMO TWFWY .. and others. Do you have to unscramble these? Or are they the actual words? That you just have to translate? And what’s this about moving it to the left instead?? Pleas Help!!

  54. Purplerider says:

Oh I got it wrong I started over and now I’m getting saya fikir and beldur so saya=I fikir=idea beldur=fear am I right?

  55. KatCammie17 says:

I figured it out! (I think!) It was hard, but I finally got it.

  56. Raven10 says:

i have something but after every “the” it doesnt flow right.

    • Jessica says:

Remember that most languages don’t have a word for the articles ( a , an, the) so your translation doesn’t necessarily have ‘the’ but the online translator might add it to the phrase. Hope this helped!! :)

  57. KatCammie17 says:

I think the languages are Indonesian/Basque/Dutch/Filipino/Croatian/Portuguese.

  58. katie says:

Oh! I think I got it! wow that was the perfect thing for me to do on my day off!

  59. Iman says:

So can you tell us what the languages are???? Please J

  60. Rachel says:

I got…”I think the fear was of what I’d do if I found out how close he was getting.”

    • Merissa says:

Mine was really close to that. “I was afraid of what I would do if I found out how close he was getting.”

    • Rachel says:

I did it again after I posted and got “I think I was afraid of what I’d do if I found out how close he was getting.” With these translating missions there are so many different things that it could be.

  61. Rachel says:

I didn’t get Malay I got Indonesian for the first language.

  62. Sarah says:

I got alot of the words some one got up there but I also only got 16 and zen…because that wldnt translete. I was woundering if the words are already in orderd to make the sentence because if it is that makes no since. So do move ard the word to make a sentence? Also hasnt it been 24 hrs so we can post the sentence or not?

  63. libby says:

got the words something like: gesture model how close single he was getting i think what should i do elegant. they were the words i got however i got 8 languauges!!!!!!!! help nyone?

    youre fellow gallagher girl, libby

  64. Paige says:

It’s Indonesian, not Malay. But the other languages are correct.

  65. ME says:

I got a jumbled up sentence with two words that didn’t translate, but I think it might be something along the lines of “I fear the idea of what I would do if I’d found out how far he had gotten.” I don’t think that’s exactly it, but something close to that, at least.

  66. Giggles says:

I didnt know what I’d do. He was getting closer. This is what I THINK. Got other unnecessary words that I cut out but whatever.

  67. Holly says:

Hey Molly (or Ally) can you post the answer to the mission?! Thanks!

  68. Iman says:

If you translate it together it is I think I was afraid not fear :) )

  69. Faith says:

I’m pretty sure that it’s “I think the fear was of what I’d do if I found what he was getting closer to.” Not 100% sure though. Some words didn’t translate well for me. Hope it’s right,
    Your fellow Gallagher Girl,
    Faith :)

  70. Aimee says:

For one of the words I got egg! Don’t think that’s right Aimee…

  71. JULIE says:

    OMG!
    I GOT IT!
    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

  72. KatCammie17 says:

I got “I think he was afraid of what I would do. I’ve found how close the element is getting”

    • LizzyAKay says:

That makes so much more sense than “I think fear for it is something I call pain if I found the note close elements was luxation” (luxation means dislocation)which is what i got with my faulty translator. Congrats on the answer though! :D

  73. Shine says:

    Post please the answer soon!!!!
    Your fellow Gallagher Girl Shine

  74. Maggie says:

This is what I got “I think I was afraid of what I’d do if I found out how close he was getting”
I hope I am right it could be Mrs.Morgan talking to Cammie?
I can’t wait until they post the answer and I REALLY can’t wait until the book comes out the languages I used
start with I, B, D, F, S, and P And I split it up into 6 groups but I got some help from some comments!
    <3Maggie

  75. Lizzy says:

For some reason I kept getting element but I figured it out

  76. Tessa says:

I got something allong the lines of “(blank) was afraid of what i would do if i found out how close he was getting. ” I’m not sure what the subject is but sometimes in foreign languages they don’t really need a subject. Since it’s “was” it has to be i, he, or she. And i had to go left instead of right in the cipher. :)

  77. Rose says:

The last part is: He was giong

  78. Morgan says:

I got “I think he was afraid of what I’d do if I found out how close he was getting.” Did anyone else get this????

    • Jillian says:

I got ” i think he was afraid of what i’d do if I found out how close he was getting” it took me for ever and i probably got it wrong. This was definitely a hard one! ;)

  79. Han says:

I got: ‘My idea beldur zen of what I would do if I found the how close he was getting.’ I could not translate beldur or zen and of corse the does not make sense. Any other Gallaher Girl have the right answer?

  80. Erica says:

What are the languages??????? Someone….PLEASE TELL ME!!!!!!

  81. Victoria says:

I got “i think the people are afraid of what i’d do if i found out how close he was getting”. I not really sure that what it is though.

  82. Maggie says:

There are tons of ideas for the answer and if cant wait to see
    What it is

  83. gabby says:

ally, when u post the answer….. can u post step by step instructions on how to do it? because i really wanna do it myself!!!!

  84. Killian says:

    Hey fellow Gallagher Girls!
How do you do these?! I can’t seem to figure this out because then I translate a word wrong or I shift a letter too far. I’m very frustrated!!!!! Help!
    Killian

  85. Raven says:

Guys, remember that these are grouped into phrases. So don’t translate word for word, group the words together, so that the translations will come out as phrases. So when you use Google Translate (it’s really helpful) put it on “detect language” and it will find the language for you. Good Luck!!

  86. ania says:

I got it! Once you get started, it kinda just figures itself out! :)
Anyway, I JUST PRE-ORDERED the book! I so cannot wait for it to come in on the 13th, I just know it’ll be a great book!

  87. Nataliacg13 says:

I think the contraction is dont

  88. Nataliacg13 says:

    Horray! BRING ON MISSION 11!

  89. Iman says:

I think it’s ‘ I think I was afraid of what i’d do if I found out how close he was getting ‘ did anyone else get the same??

  90. Jasmine says:

This is hard but I will get it in the end

  91. Taylor says:

HAPPY BIETHDAY TO ME!!!!(: it’s really early I know but unmm….I have to get ready for school sooo…go to go!!!

  92. Michy says:

I sorta got it… but the words don’t fit together quite right. What did you get for the second word?

  93. Kristen says:

This was a really hard one! All the answers we’ve come up with sound pretty serious, could it be Cammie saying these things?

    Happy Birthday Taylor!!!

  94. erwin:P says:

OMG y’all! Ally said that after we get done with mission 10 she will give us a mega exerpt!!! But I seriously can’t figure out how y’all do this…I have no idea where to begin! I personally am only good at binary codes

  95. Haeri says:

Oooh! Ive got to start! sounds fun! :)

  96. Liv says:

    Molly-
Do we get that excerpt, since we solved mission 10?

    -Livvy

  97. Alana says:

For the Beldur Zen unscrabled try transtating with Zen Beldur

  98. Amalia says:

Oh my thought I was never going to get the answer but finally I did! Thanks for the missions Ally.

  99. jen says:

wow, that took forever, i just finished it today!!
    excerpt…please? o.o

  100. Evie says:

Okay, I’m confused. Could someone clarify: does Ally really know George Clooney? I’m sort of confused…

  101. gabby says:

happy birthday!!! (this is really late)

  102. Jackie says:

    excerpt**

  103. mimo says:
